World Suicide Prevention Day
I was reading the Bangkok Post today, and saw this:

13 suicides in Thailand each day

An average of 13 people commit suicide in Thailand each day and half of the cases are related to alcohol and depression, Deputy Public Health Minister Anuthin Charnveerakul said yesterday.

Thailand ranks 71st among countries with more than 4,620 suicide cases per year, he said during the opening of a seminar in Chiang Mai to mark World Suicide Prevention Day yesterday.

Most of the suicides in Thailand are committed by hanging and men outnumbered women at the ratio of 3:1.

More than 90% of those who killed themselves suffered mental problems, with 50% of them also alcoholic.

Suicides are also among the world's top 10 leading causes of death, he said.

He quoted the World Health Organisation as saying that about one million people worldwide killed themselves a year or 2,739 people per day, 114 people per hour and two people per minute, and the figure tended to increase with Lithuania ranking top. All nations have been asked to campaign against suicides by raising the people's awareness of the problem using this year's World Suicide Prevention Day motto "Preventing suicide is everybody's business".

I just thought of sharing it would you guys. I think it could be lower in the Philippines, considering that I don't recall having a 'World Suicide Prevention Day' in the news.

I drink.
And yes, at times I'm depressed.
But I still love my life!
