QUEER MAGNET
Fag Hag. A homosexual man trapped in a heterosexual woman's body. Call it what you want. Or perhaps "Queen of the Queers" will fit me best.

I have many gay friends. Introduce me to one and we'll surely click instantly. Or to someone who has an "inclination" (meaning, someone yet to embrace the fact that he is gay), and I tell you... he will come out sooner than expected. Can I really turn a straight man "gay"? Maybe... but oh no! You see it is a possibility. I've had my own share of heartaches for falling for someone who is gay. Sometimes, I even suspect that this gay male didn't really know he was gay until he'd spent time with me and my other gay friends. He totally enjoyed their company. Maybe, I was really meant to hand him a key to his closet.

I did not choose to be a fag hag. I didn't just wake up and decided that I'm going to spend the rest of my life in the company of queers. I believe that queers chose me. It is therefore, a privilege, and an honour.

My preference for the company of gay men started during high school and persisted through college and even now that I am working for years already. My thinking has always been that gays make the best girlfriends. They have set me free! I love a gay people, and I'll tell you why:

Gay people have a strange power over me! Maybe because we share the same interests too. We love drama! We are like award-winning actresses on the stage of life. We crave scandal and gossip. We don't keep secrets, we harvest them. Of course, we do know when and where loyalty is required, and in these cases, we are true to our beloved. Bitchiness is always appreciated, and insulting others behind their back is a favorite pastime. Never underestimate the power of our wagging tongues.

But hey! I'm not just attracted to gayness, I am attracted to people who accepted themselves as however they really were and who presented that self to the world. I like people who refuse to mold themselves according to other people's opinions of what they should be. Gee, they'll surely love me more for this! I'm a fag hag and proud. I love my gay friends. And I wouldn't exchange them for anything else. (not even for the 'possible' Mr. Right. Because, if and when I find my one true love, he should love my friends they way I love them)

Presenting to you my wonderful exquisite friends... (in alphabetical order, so there's no favoritism!)

Arnel - Ang pinaka-lola sa mga bading. Freelance writer by day, ewan ko lang what happens to him by nightfall. Hahaha! But seriously, he aged gracefully naman. Very reliable too (I almost killed him because of too much work! and then drinking beer after) ---> I don't have his picture now.

Arvin - We've known each other only a little over a year, but it seems like we've been friends forever. He also works in McCann. We never run out of stories or topics. We can give Boy Abunda and Kris Aquino, a run for their moolah!

Carlo - He's Nathan's EX (I hope they get back together soon! I'm still keeping my fingers crossed!). We really connected when we went to Baguio with Jeng and of course Nathan. I think he's Nathan's Sugar n' Spice and Everything Nice.

John - We are not really close, but I totally adore him! Cutie! He's Nathan's bestfriend.

Jomer - Words are not enough to desribe the moments I shared with this fag. We've known each other since the first day we started high school. Always trying to outshine me! But I love him nonetheless... (ayaw paawat sa kabadingan. yun na!)

Mike - He's one of my smartest friends. Very witty and funny. I've learned many things from him, he tells me things even if he knows will hurt, but will eventually make me a stronger and better person.

Nathan - My fellow advertising slut! Hahaha! Day after day, I feel so much closer to him than anyone. He's always there to listen and understand (and I do the same for him!)

Raphy - Doctor2Be! Wow! He's probably the purest amongst my friends. He doesn't smoke and seldom drinks :) Always the firestarter... but he's busy fulfilling his dreams now.

Raul - He is Mike's friend from DLSU. He's also very smart and his mouth just never stops! ---but only because he always has something interesting to share. Truly a Kapuso (he works in GMA7, obvious ba?)

Vidal - My ultimate favorite event project manager. He never fails to amuse me, even if I treat him badly most of the time. And best thing is that, he already knows to appease me when I get really mad at him because of his blunders (sabit galore!)

Vic - A very talented writer. I've known him for less than a year (we met in McCann). He introduced me to blog!
