555
Most Filipinos are familiar with 555 as a brand of sardines. But for Thais, it's actually an expression.

Ching ha? [thai, for really?]

Chai [thai for yes]. It's true. I was chatting on the MSN messenger with my officemates the other day when after a few messages, I've been seeing several 555's on the screen. Of course I had to ask... I can't be stupid forever.

Lo and behold, 555! means hahaha! How could that be?

And so they explained to me:

1 - nueng
2 - song
3 - sam
4 - see
5 - ha

And there, my dear friends is the origin of 555. Maybe I'll be using it in the future as well instead of a :-D or LOL or hahaha!

Ewan ko ba... wala talaga sila sa katinuan. Yun lang!
